SINGAPORE AIRLINES CARGO STARTS FREIGHTER SERVICE TO ATLANTA

Singapore Airlines Cargo has commenced a weekly westbound Boeing 747-400 freighter service to Atlanta. The flight from Singapore is routed via Hong Kong, Anchorage and Los Angeles, and the return flight is via Brussels and Sharjah (see attachment for details).

The Airline mounted a series of ad hoc charter services to Atlanta in September 2009 before deciding on a scheduled service, which began on 29 October 2009.

“This service will directly link Atlanta to its export markets in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The greater accessibility to Atlanta will certainly help to promote the city as a major gateway for the freight industry in the Southeastern Region of the US,” said Mr Tan Tiow Kor, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing.

Atlanta is the capital and most populous city in the state of Georgia, as well as the urban core of one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States. It is a vital business city and transportation hub and the world headquarters of numerous multinational companies.
Major imports for Atlanta are consumer products such as electronics from Asia. Major exports from Atlanta include heavy machinery parts to Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
